Although contemporary architecture in Croatia has yet to reach significant levels of distinctiveness, it is nonetheless unique.
Elena Vu\u010dinovec says that the influences of Croatia's rich history, both Mediterranean culture and traditional Slavonian architecture, are still visible. What makes Croatian architecture special is precisely this combination of different styles that intertwine with the geography and tradition of the region in certain locations.
Speaking about differences in architectural choice, Vesna Dalbelo expresses concern about some challenges in modern Croatia<\/b> architecture. These challenges can negatively impact the environment and surrounding properties. She believes that construction projects in Croatia need better planning. This should not be a problem considering the significant number of good architects in Croatia.
Despite these challenges, Dalbelo acknowledges the emergence of "well-designed projects within urban cores and rural areas, mainly aimed at more demanding tourists and\/or those with higher disposable incomes".
Elena Vu\u010dinovec highlights the emergence of modern architecture. This architecture often draws inspiration from traditional elements or offers contemporary interpretations of coastal life. Trends include <\/b>harmonization of architectural forms with coastal landscapes and minimalist design. What are the factors in architecture that makes it luxurious<\/b>? Factors that make people feel abundance in the space around them? Also - can we find them in Croatia?
Furthermore, Vesna Dalbelo points out that personal preferences define luxury<\/b>. However, some characteristics of architecture transcend personal taste and become universal signs of high quality.
For example, the quality of the materials used, craftsmanship, technological progress. Also "green" concepts that reflect luxury, regardless of design.
Elena Vu\u010dinovec agrees with these signifiers of luxury in Croatian architecture. She too adds excellent spatial design and decorations<\/b> which are not usually found in conventional construction.
Both speakers agree that architecture high class<\/b>, especially if it is intended for tourists, often has certain features. For example, well-maintained surroundings, swimming pools, saunas, outdoor kitchens, private gyms, spacious dressing rooms, rooms with attached bathrooms, etc.

When asked about significant examples of designer villas along the Croatian coast, both architects point out the abundance of such properties. These properties range from modern buildings to tastefully renovated traditional stone houses.
Architect Elena Vu\u010dinovec mentions regions like Istria and Dalmatia<\/b>, where the smaller cities are increasingly revitalizing with luxury villas<\/b>. This is happening due to the saturation of cities that no longer have the capacity for new quality construction.
It also notices a growing popularity luxury accommodation on islands and villages<\/b>. In such areas, peace and relaxation are some of the most luxurious factors. There are villas in Gorski kotar and Lika that offer facilities similar to those on the coast. However, they are less represented and the owners are more focused on winter tourism.
